Chapter 44

My feet are stinging even though I don't have a wound as I walked off to Kalvis' office. I remembered that I forgot to return in the afternoon on the day he said I would.

“Come in,” Kalvis', with his calm and cold voice said in a deep manner.

I held the knob and twirled it a little before I pushed the door inside. He stared at me for no longer and put his eyes back on his computer.

“G-Good morning,” I greeted him, trying to compose myself.

The tension that the scene happened in the office of his father was still inside my head, stealing my thoughts away, and making me fear him again.

“Good morning, mommy,” he said with a half smile on his face.

I swallowed and bowed my head, trying to avoid his death glare.
