Chapter 44: The Squirrel

DARIAN'S POV

We had four carts, each driven by two horses. One of the carts contained food items and kitchen utensils. The other contained tents and some other personal belongings. The other two were just for the women and children to take shelter from the weather as we traveled.

We left at dawn, following a path that'd lead us out of the woods and into a grassland. The grassland used to be a bloody battlefield when I was little. But war had reduced in the werewolf world now, compared to the days when my late father was in his prime. Back then, he always returned with blood-bathed claws and weapons.

Soon, we were out of the woods. Taking the grassland we moved faster since there were nothing like twigs or rocks to make our movement rough. And for the more reason, the grassland was too exposing. We needed to go faster before the enemies would eventually sight us.

Elva decided to walk on foot with me, taking that as part of training. In packs, there were only a handful of female warrior
