Caught in a web

When Shawn left after I sent him off to work, instinct told me to sneak after him. And thus, I slightly parted the door, watched out for him, and quietly snuck behind him until he disappeared behind a door.

I stood behind it, hoping to eavesdrop on whatever it was he’d be doing or whoever he’d be speaking to but to hell with his walls. They were soundproof.

I ended up hearing nothing. However, there was one thing I came to find out though; Shawn spends a lot of him behind that door. I wondered what was in that room.

I’d check it out later.

I moved away from the door and had barely taken five steps when I noticed a maid standing just outside the corridor, arranging some flowers in a vase. Her name tag read ‘Elena.’

And Elena, she had a big fat frown on her face. Damn. I had been careless.

“Excuse me, miss," Elena said softly, catching my attention. "I couldn't help but notice you were near Mr. Donnelly's study. Is there something I can assist you with?"
