Going Back.

I got myself a glass of wine and even though I did not want to think of them, the memories of me and Ethan came gushing forth in my mind that my tears threatened to escape any second.

Only then I remembered, It would only be a matter of seconds before they found me because of my smell, I got up and fumbled through the kitchen cabinet. I recalled buying a smell mask to use whenever I came here to decorate or design so that no one would know about this place and I could keep this secret up until my wedding. Well, now it comes in handy in a very different, unexpected situation.

As soon as my hand landed on that tiny bottle, I rubbed it on my smell gland, at the back of my neck.

Hoping that I have not let my smell trail here, I sat down, and gulped the liquid in the glass. It went down burning my throat. It was soar and distasteful, just as how I can picture my life ahead.

Rejected and being cheated on. I feel so insulted and hurt but not anymore.

I whipped off the tears and sat up straight. So many things are to be set upright. Starting from where I live from now on, that is this place.

I looked around to see furniture laying here and there. I was to come here when Ethan was at the office and finish the designs slowly. But now, I have nothing to wait for and no one to please.

It was almost sunset now. The orange tint of sky was so bright and pretty I had forgotten about the gray clouds of my life.

This neighbourhood was a little away from where I lived. But I’m sure everyone around me would know that the rejected Luna had woken up from her coma and had left. And in the next few hours someone would spot me here and snitch it to the Alpha.

Anyway I’m not going to waste my time mourning my lost to-be-husband.

I shrank on to the bed, not minding to do the covering, even the pillows had no covers.

Next morning

I got up early around 7:00, maybe as I slept way early last night and the wine kicked me in. I never drank before, the wine bottle I had bought and kept here was for Ethan. So, reviewing my drinking history, I would pass out with as much as 1 glass itself.

I had no clothes here and I’m planning to go there and get my stuff.

Even though I have to face those mocking and taunting faces, I have to get my stuff including necessary documents, like my passport.

There were no food items except for the wine bottle, so I took a swig from it and suppressed my growling stomach for a little while.

I had bought some books before, thanks to which I occupied my mind with the world of humans and spaceships until it was mid-afternoon. I couldn’t hold back my hunger any longer. Since I had no one to come and lend me some food nor any money to buy some, I had to go back to the palace.

I let my hair loose on my back, combing through it with my hands. I adjusted the fabric and I looked a little lively.

I opened the front door and stepped out. It was a little cold but it was bearable.

Walking down the lane, I could see heads peeking from their window stills.

It was almost evening when I reached the palace on foot. Since I had moved in here, most of my belongings were here than at my house.

I walked through the front gate, the guards did nothing to stop me. They stood and watched as I emotionlessly went across the front lawn and entered the living area.

The maids didn’t even give a slight notice that I had come, they went about their work which I was very grateful for.

I could hear distant chatters from the dining hall.

I opened the giant doors to the dining hall.

Nice.

Everyone I know, my parents, grandparents, ex and his girlfriend. Oh! My best friend and her mate. Wow. no one must have noticed my absence.

“Where have you been?” my mom rushed up to me, cupping my face.

She was literally laughing a second before and now acting all concerned.

“Nothing you have to be worried about.” I sat and held her wrist moving it away from my face. I walked up to Alpha Alex who was sitting at the head of the table, quietly, pressing both his hands before him. He had a neutral expression.

“Dad, I came to get my things. I’m leaving.” I announced.

I heard a snicker, well, unmistakably it’s from my sister.

“Well then I think you ought to know.” Myla smirked as she spoke looking at me then at Alexia.

I rolled my eyes, clearly fed up with her.

“Ok. if you are not telling her, I will.” Ethan's sister had come forth.

She continued. “Alexia is pregnant with Ethan’s child.” she cheered.

I had no particular change in expression as I shifted my gaze to my so-called best friend, Hera who was standing with a guilty face but with a wine glass.

So this happy gathering was to embrace the new member.

“I’m happy for you Alexia. Long Live the Luna.” I mockingly raised my arms and bowed.

“Don’t make fun of her, thalia” Ethan rose from his seat.

“I didn’t and wait! Who are you to order me around?” I questioned.

“She is conceiving my baby and and-” Ethan stopped mid sentence.

I squinted my eyebrows. “And?”

“We are getting married this weekend.” Alexia announced.

That caught me off-guard. I thought they were just an on-off relationship. Well this is serious.

“Congratulations on successfully conquering a second-hand” I clapped.

“You- “ Myla pushed back her chair and rushed over to me.

Amanda held her hand from slapping me. I stood there and looked straight up at her.

“You have the audacity to come up here and call my son by a filthy name.” she barked.

“Filthy names? I haven’t even started yet and you get aggressive on a ‘second-hand’? I quoted.

“ I have no idea how a pathetic girl like you is born to Anna.” she remarked.

“ENOUGH”  Alpha Alex’s voice cut through the hall, silence allowed.

He continued. “She has come for a purpose. You may take your belongings.” The last sentence came out soft and low.

He walked out of the venue calmly, I followed.
