Chapter 94- In the Beginning pt. 2

Rieka’s POV

A sense of deja vu washes over me as I sit here quietly, listening to the Fates relay a story from long ago. Something about the story seems familiar to me, causing me to feel deep sadness within my soul.

An image begins to play out in the open space of the bedroom floor, startling everyone in the room. Clotho’s knowing eyes glance in Jamari’s direction as a sense of familiarity consumes me.

I turn my attention back to the image growing in clarity in the center of the room.

A woman appears, sobbing, and surrounded by blood and pieces of the creatures she loved dearly. Three women approach her slowly, their hands up in the universal sign of peace. As they grow nearer I recognize them as the woman seated on the couch in front of me.

The woman glances up at the sound of their approach, her face covered in blood and tears as another heart wrenching sob leaves her lips. “How can Fate be so cruel?” She asks them, not really expecting an answer.
