Chapter 6 Are You An Idiot?

Liam seemed to be in a foul mood yesterday. He drank a little too much, so he couldn't remember what happened last night.

However, the look on May's face told him everything. Now, he knew that Amelia had left home because of him.

He always knew her as a woman who was gentle and agreeable. Whenever May reported to him, it was always that Amelia was a sensible woman, so why did she change so abruptly today?

"Sir, do you want me to search for Madam Amelia?" May asked cautiously.

"No need for that. She's an adult and can make her own decisions. Call me if she comes back."

Liam did not dwell on the matter, although he found it rather surprising for Amelia to leave the house just like this.

He married her, so he'd provide for her. Naturally, he never locked her up or stripped away her freedom. She could leave whenever she wanted to.

Besides, "Mrs. Prescott" was nothing more than a title. He shouldn't be concerned about her. Glancing up, he reminded himself that he had to get rid of that woman in the room upstairs.

The first thing Amelia did after leaving the villa was find herself a house. When Alex Lambert, her good friend, called, she was busy searching for a job online.

"Amelia, I'm back home. Let's meet up, and don't forget to bring your husband along and introduce him to me," Alex told her from the other end of the line.

Her husband? Was he still her husband now? Amelia smiled wryly and gave Alex her address.

Soon, Alex arrived. She gave Amelia a bear hug once she entered the room.

Right after that, she exclaimed, "Amelia, didn't you say that Liam's your husband? Why are you living in a place like this?"

Amelia glanced around at her newly rented apartment. Its condition certainly wasn't as good as Riverbay Residence, but this was all she could afford for now.

After pulling Alex to sit on the couch, Amelia briefed her about what happened recently. Alex sprang to her feet soon after, her face livid with rage.

"That darned Liam! What a playboy he is! And you, Amelia, you're an idiot for staying with him for three whole years! He doesn't even think of you as his wife!"

Amelia looked away from her friend. Indeed, she knew she was a fool for believing that Liam would be faithful to her.

"It's all David's fault. He's a good-for-nothing twat who had to depend on your happiness to settle his debt," said Alex, her tone stern. "Listen to me. Ignore him if he comes to you again. Let him fend for himself!"

"It won't work. If I don't give him money, he and Sarah wouldn't take care of my grandparents."

Amelia shook her head. She couldn't care less about David and his wife, Sarah, but she couldn't stop worrying about her grandparents.

She could be obedient and refuse to go back there so that her grandparents wouldn't get worried about her, but she'd still give David the money if he wanted it.

Seeing how distressed Amelia was, Alex sighed and waved her hand to dismiss the idea.

"Fine then. Let's not talk about shitty things like this anymore. Just remember to tell me right away if you find yourself in a tough spot. Don't rashly decide on something alone," Alex told her.

"And, about your job … I can help you find one."

The following day, Amelia got to join a company directly as an operations assistant. Thanks to Alex, she managed to skip the interview procedure and could start working right away.

The company's primary product was snacks, and Amelia was assigned to a manager in the sales department.

Her main duty was to translate the customers' information, analyze the production progress of the latest products, and report these to the manager.

Today, one of the managers, Lia Hall, asked Amelia to visit the studio to check whether the advertisement for the new products was complete. This would be presented to their clients later on.

"What the heck is this? It's gross! Where's Jason Yale? Isn't he coming to shoot the ad? Why isn't he here yet?"

The studio was already in chaos when Amelia arrived. The staff were all gathered around the site, mumbling to each other.

The company's project manager and the planner of the advertising agency were discussing something with a sexily-dressed, pretty woman standing between them.

Amelia's heart skipped a beat the moment her eyes landed on the woman. She'd never mistake this face for someone else's, because this woman was the one who lay on her bed with her husband just a few days ago.

It was Ava, the woman whom Liam brought back and cuddled with in the villa!
