Ibukun would have imagined in her seventeen years of existence that the surprise Lashe had been preparing for her was a whole album of love songs. She only woke up in the morning to see a message from Lashe asking her to check her whatsapp messages. She had hurriedly opened her whatsapp to see album, she was shocked and ended up going to school late.
Even though Lashe’s company released the songs early in the morning of a school day; the news had gone round and it was trending like mad. Everyone was talking about it and Ibukun couldn’t help but feel on top of the world. Tosinmile was flabbergasted as well as she quickly collected all the songs from Ibukun.

Ibukun didn’t know the right words to say to Lashe. Even though she was nice and kind and a general person; she didn’t know what she must have done in her last life to deserve someone like Lashe. She had said she was going to shower him with all the love she had but she ended up getting the one showered. The album broke record as the first album to reach over 100 million downloads within the first twenty-four hours after release. All the entertainment outlets and newspapers carried it and the album kept being downloaded at a crazy pace. The curiosity towards whoever was Lashe’s girlfriend grew as Lashe had said the album was for his girlfriend. A few girls started making posts on social media saying that they were envious of Lashe’s girlfriend and such posts soon started trending on social media.Lashe walked out of the lecture room with his bodyguards as a girl walked towards him, her steps slightly hesitant.“Hello, please can I get an autograph?” she asked
Ibukun could feel that Lashe wasn’t himself when he called her and told her to come and meet him in front of the hospital. So she had rushed over. Seeing him standing with his bodyguards in front of the hospital; she hurried towards him.She placed her hands on his face the moment she got to where he was and scrutinized his face. She frowned slightly as she regarded his pale face.“Did you cry?” Ibukun asked slowly as Lashe pried away her hands from his face and took one of them in his. He squeezed her hand slowly as he started leading her into the hospital.“There’s someone you should meet” Lashe said slowly and Ibukun turned to him in mild surprise.“Someone? Who is it?” Ibukun asked as they entered the elevator.“You’ll know soon” Lashe replied as he pressed the floor his grandmother was. The elevator quickly brought them to the VIP floor and Ibukun soon realized that the floor wasn’t your usual hospital ward. She turned to Lashe but it seemed like h
Ibukun walked into the seating room and everyone turned to her. Tosinmile sighed as soon as she saw Ibukun tear-stained face. She stood up and walked towards her while her parents stared at her.“What happened?” Tosinmile asked as Ibukun played with her fingers. She turned to her parents and Tosinmile as a tear slid down her cheeks.“She has one week left” Ibukun replied and Mrs Ola-Amuda frowned a little.“Who is she?” Tosinmile asked.“Lashe’s grandmother. She’s the last family member he has left” Ibukun replied and Tosinmile’s hands went to her mouth immediately. Mr and Mrs Ola-Amuda looked at in each other in shock.“What’s he gonna do now?” Ibukun cried as her mom pulled her in for a hug.“Why does he keep losing people he loves so much?” Ibukun asked as more tears ran down her cheeks. The atmosphere in the house of the Ola-Amuda’s was very solemn and everyone was left in their own thoughts. Ibukun stayed up all night and eve
Nobody knew why or what was going on but within minutes; there was a trend spreading on the internet that Lashe was having a stage performance the next day night and people were buying tickets online. Despite the fact that the news was released about twenty hours before the stage performance; the tickets sold out pretty quickly.People were curious about what the stage performance was all about because Lashe was the only one performing. Ibukun watched as the makeup artists adjusted Lashe’s face trying to make his face less pale than it was originally was.“Lashe, you are up in fifteen” someone said and Lashe stood up and turned to Ibukun who engulfed him in a hug and smiled at him in encouragement. He had been shocked when she had told him to hold a stage performance for his grandmother, she should see him on stage one more before she died. Even Tosinmile had rubbed her head for thinking about it.And just as she had suggested; Uncle Sam and Lashe’s company made st
Ibukun had barely walked out of the church building when she saw some of the teens clustering and whispering while they scrolled through their phones.“She’s dead already?”“Yes”“He still sang for her yesterday”“She had cancer”“I so much pity him”“Do you realise that this is the first time he’s mentioning a family member?”“So?”Ibukun froze in her steps as she walked towards them with light steps. She coughed lightly to catch their attention and which she pulled off successfully.“Sorry but what are you guys talking about?” Ibukun asked slowly.“Who died?” she asked again.“Ohh, I don’t know if you heard that Lashe held a live performance yesterday that he sang for his grandmother. Well, she died early this morning” one of the boys said as he passed over his phone to Ibukun who shaking collected it.GRANDMOTHER OF POPULAR TEEN SINGER; LASHE DIES AT EIGHTY-FIVE AFTER BATTLING WITH CANCER FOR SIX Y
“There are sleeping pills inside” Tosinmile said and I looked at her in surprise as she nodded as we both turned to Lashe.“He needs to rest” Tosinmile said as my eyes went soft. I placed Lashe’s head on my laps and adjusted him in a sleeping position. Slowly cradling him and patting him to sleep was what I did for about three days straight.I wasn’t surprised at the massive turnout at the burial. A lot of teenagers were there and they were all shocked to see their always smiling idol looking as if his soul had left him and which there were times I almost thought it did.Lashe was the only family member she had left and Ibukun’s parents took care of everything. Ibukun had a black hat covering her head a black nose mask covering her face as she walked towards the grave and collected the spade. She carried sand and poured it on the hole.Tolu squeezed her hands reassuringly and Ibukun nodded while she sighed softly. She gripped Lashe’s hands tight while the oth
It wasn’t until later that Ibukun had discovered that the documents were the documents that clearly stated that Lashe’s parents owned the properties that all his Uncles had snatched. Apparently, they had made fake documents. Her mom took the matter up immediately and sued the uncles to court immediately. She got her whole legal team working on it and Ibukun knew her mom; forget about the fact that Lashe was her daughter’s boyfriend, she was his fan and injustices like that, she hated it. She was definitely going to win the case, that Ibukun was sure of.She sighed as she closed her Physics textbook. Her mock exams were starting the next week and she had barely started reading due to the stress that had plagued the previous weeks. There was a knock on her room door and Ibukun turned and the door opened to reveal Lashe. He was wearing black suit trousers and a top with jean jacket. He wore a small smile as he walked towards Ibukun who had shot up from her seat
“I just heard about on the internet and that was why I sped up my visa and all. I was coming home already so I just hurried it. I was still shocked when I landed. I was so shocked and had to hurry to pay my respects to her. I didn’t believe it” Uncle Deolu said as he dropped his head.“I visited her grave before I came though. There were lots of flowers there” he added and he turned to Lashe with a frown.“When did all these happen? How come you couldn’t contact me? I watched all your concerts and heard your songs while I was Canada. I tried to contact you but all to no avail. There were many times I sent messages to your fan mail but I received no reply. I figured out that you were doing fine” Uncle Deolu said and Lashe sighed.“I didn’t know how to. My manager manages my fan mail, he must have thought it was spam or something” Lashe replied and Uncle Deolu smiled and nodded.“I’m glad you are okay” Uncle Deolu said as he turned to Ibukun’s mom.
