CHAPTER 36: HE'S AWAKE

Matilda's POV

"Grandma Gertrude, where do you want these?" I asked replacing the bandages on my father's side. "Right there is fine, dear. He should be waking up one day soon. His wolf just needs time to heal," she explained. "I've made eggs and oats. It is ready when you two decide to join me," my mother called out.

This is how she deals with trauma. She cooks, cleans, and gardens until she begins to waste away. When she is not at my father's bedside, she is in the kitchen, garden, or at the lake. I walked toward the porch and peered out at the forest. It seems so peaceful but what lurked behind those trees could be treacherous just like ones's past.

"Have you seen Oliver?" Karly asked bringing my back to reality. "No," I said dismissively. "I know you have. Are you hoping that he will choose you over me?" she asked.
