Chapter 17: The Past

I cried in his arms recalling the past. I was too young to know what betrayal meant but now I knew if betrayal had a face, it would be of Jared Gilbert, and that’s how much I hate him.

I was trying to stop my tears but they made their way as the past flashed right back into my eyes.

Flashback:

My dad and mom were standing on either side of me when I was about to cut the cake. I made a wish, closing my eyes and blowing out the candles.

I was wearing a dress - Princess Aurora wore and I told my dad I needed to be treated like a real Princess that day. He also got me the princess cake. It was huge and pink in colour, covered with bows and ribbons.

I cut the cake and gave it to my dad first as he was my superhero and then my mom. My dad was feeding the cake to me when I heard Jared uncle shout.

“George!” I looked at him, pointing the gun towards my dad. He was standing at a far distance but not very far.

I saw his eyes blood red and his voice was loud when he called my father.
