Chapter 53
Simon sat in the office, never letting go of Lili, and didn't concern himself with the healing of the Alpha. With Ethan's help, we carried Connor back up to the mess hall and had the pack gather around. There was a faint heartbeat present in his chest, but his breathing was strained. Dried blood clung to the black wolf's fur causing mats everywhere. I couldn't help but grimace at the sight of the struggling Lycan.
Like before the fight with Jenny, the pack surrounded their Alpha who laid upon a lunch table in the middle of the mess hall. Someone had cleaned since our last healing leaving it smelling like a normal lunchroom with clean walls and floors. Focusing back on Connor, we all made physical contact with one another whether it was holding hands, a hand on a shoulder, or a side hug. When we were sure that everyone was connected, I placed my hand over the black wolf's forehead and pushed the linked power through to him.

Simon's POV We brought Lil back to Su's home and went straight for our room. Connor did not push me to hand her to him and I could only assume it was because he thought I needed her. He was right. It feels bittersweet having this story come to an end in one more chapter. Even though this story ends, the series does not. I will have plenty more to share and tell! The global werewolf (Lycanthropes) population is making a comeback after a long period of decline. It's estimated there are approximately 5,000 remaining in America alone; some living in packs; and others have gone rogue, preferring to live apart from the pack. In the 1690s, the Lycans fought to survive their eradication during the Salem Witch Hunt. Bombarded with propaganda; the people came to fear those who could transform into the beast; to believe they were cursed by a dangerous cult of witches and warlocks. This fear grew into mass hysteria. To protect their families from their perceived enemy, the people organized into mobs, hunting down the Lycans, Werewolves, and anyone else they believed to bear the curse of the witch. They burned them; alive at the stake; their screams of terror traveling the wind for miles. This time of great fear and the slaughter of the weird and different, forever devastated the families of those who survived.
