She hates me. I see it in her eyes when she looks at me. That spark was gone, and in its place is a sadness that made my heart bleed. I’d not left her side except when I needed to shower or eat, but even in her subconscious, she’d recoiled from my touch whenever I tried any physical contact.

I closed my eyes as I remembered the condition I’d seen her in when I got to the underground apartment they’d been keeping her. Sapphire crossed the line this time. It had been a secret house where I hid some of my men during the days of my invasion. Only a few men knew of its existence and it had been the last place I’d thought to look. My brilliant mate had given me the clue as to where I’d find her. When I decided to stop invading packs after Lakewood, I’d asked Lennox to destroy the place, but apparently, he hadn’t done that. He’d had a different plan up his sleeves.
