He was right; I didn’t have to worry about anything because he was with me. I felt safe with him; the relief that flooded my body at perceiving his scent was enough proof, but I couldn’t stop the tears that poured from my eyes. I’d had a few near-death experiences, and each time I was saved and recovered, I always thought it was the worst thing that could’ve ever happened to me, but this was it. However, when I looked around, I was met with an empty cold bed and tent. Kane had never been into extravagant decorations—the pack house was proof— so I wasn’t surprised to see the minimal decorations and arrangements of the tent.
