Even before I uttered the question to Kane, I knew he would refuse me.

I had seen it in his eyes, his rejection of my request, even though he looked like he was thinking about it. He wasn’t. He had his answer ringing in the back of his mind, and I heard it.

I shouldn’t have asked him to make me Luna. It opened a new window of pain I was fine without. I knew he would refuse me, and yet I asked him.

“You asked because you now carry his child. The next Alpha of this pack. You shouldn’t have to ask, he should lay it down at your feet!” Zarah howled angrily and I sighed.

At the end of the day, I was angry, but surprisingly not at him. I was angry at the situation which made me think becoming Luna would solve the problem.

“This would be the perfect time to sit at the waterfall and calm my mind,” I muttered to myself, dragging my eyes unconsciously down to my stomach.
