Chapter 20: Unexpected Savior
Anika’s P.O.V
I grit my teeth as I saw Steven Hallow’s smug smile from across the table. But he wasn’t my main concern as of this moment.
The disciplinary board today consisted of the Chief of Surgery, Steven Hallow, some of our best surgeons, Dr. Willow Slogan and Dr. Raymond Desmond, the Senior Consultant, Dr. Madhu Prabhas and the CEO of New York City Hospital, Dr. Max Nosek.
“Dr. Anika Mehta, I hope you are aware of why we are holding this meeting today?” Dr. Nosek raised his eyebrows at me, making me nervous all over again.
But I wasn’t here to back down. So I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook my head. “I’m sorry, ladies and gentlemen.” I addressed everyone with a polite smile. “But I am completely unaware of why this disciplinary committee was called. As far as I remember…I hadn't done anything that would require disciplinary action.”
