Chapter 28: His Reasons

Axton’s P.O.V

“Hello, little brother.”

I whipped around to face Gustav, crouching down in preparation for an attack. My wolf snarled inside my mind, wanting to take over, wanting to tear him apart piece by piece. But Gustav merely smirked, leaning against a nearby tree.

“I’m not going to attack or try to kill you, Axton.” He shook his head. “I had given up on that idea the second I found out that Anika is your mate.”

A growl tore through me. “Don’t you dare go near her!”

“Or what?” He tilted his head to the side to study me, the smirk growing wider. “It’s funny how you’re acting the mean, big bad wolf when you have another woman’s scent all over you. Looks like I didn’t have to do much this time, Axton. You screwed up on your own.”

“At least I screwed up, Gustav,” I growled at him. “I didn’t murder my own mate.”
