Damien POV.

My heart is breaking. I can physically hear it and feel it split in two. Jessica and her brother Jake. They were my best friends growing up. I can’t defend either of them now. Marissa is right. Jessica tried to kill my pup. I have no doubt that Jake knew, too. The evidence is enough to warrant a death sentence.

“How long will it take for your sister to get here?” Marissa asks Jake, and I ignore everything as I look at the pictures in the file. My eyes sting with unshed tears. I haven’t cried since the day I thought Marissa and my pup died. This is all my fault.
