Chapter 0005

SARA’S POV

“Please, don’t play with me like that. I’m desperate here, and I can’t afford jokes like that.” My heart pounded in my chest, and the promise of freedom hung tantalizingly close when he spoke those words. But if this were all a jest, it would be another crushing blow, adding to the pain Megan and her mother had inflicted.

“I don’t have time for jokes. Be there tomorrow, and we’ll leave. But you’ll have to sign a contract; we need all of this in writing,” Alpha Kane stated.

I didn’t care if I had to sign my life away; leaving this forsaken place was all that mattered.

“I’ll sign anything,” I blurted out quickly, fearing he might change his mind. I couldn’t stay here any longer.

“Then I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said, then walked away. Joy welled up inside me, making me want to scream and jump for joy.
