Chapter Ten: Desperate Times

Jon's POV

“Well, that didn't go too well,” Sam chuckled as he made his way back to the table and tried to sit.

“No need. We're heading back home immediately,” I revealed, standing to my feet and adjusting my clothes. “Surely, you didn't expect her to just open up her arms and embrace me, Sam. These things take time. We'll take it step by step.”

“If you say so. Who am I to say otherwise?” He asked as we made our way to the car. “But if you ask me, I'll tell you to let it be. I know you won't. I'm just saying anyway.”

The journey back home was a silent one. As San drove, I shut my eyes and let my mind drift into thoughts as I wondered what I had to do to win her heart back.

I missed Caro. I missed her so much and I needed her back with me. I also couldn't stand her being with that monster of a man called Boris. I feared he'd turn on her soon and make her regret ever getting to know him. Maybe I wouldn't be around to save her if that happened. I had to find a way to take her away from
