Chapter 18

In Lydia’s room, Carson, Lydia, and Anny stood beside Khloe as she was being treated by Nick. The little girl has slept off.

As Lydia watched Khloé, she felt a sense of guilt wash over her. She had left her daughter, trusting that she would be taken care of while she went out to look for a job. But she had been so focused on finding a job that she hadn't realized that something was wrong with Khloé.

Now, she felt like the worst mother in the world. She could only hope that Khloé would be okay.

“She'll be okay,” Anny said, sensing Lydia's distress.

Lydia was restless, her sobs wracking her body. She kept self-blaming herself. If only she listened to Ma'am Anny and go on the job hunt next week, but no, she wanted to go for it immediately. And guess what? It was useless.

Anny placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to offer some comfort,

“You have to calm down,” she said, her voice soft,

“I know you're scared, but you have to stay strong for Khloé. She needs you to be strong.”
