"Speak plainly, enough with the philosophical crap," Wendy rolled her eyes at me.

"I just mean I don't have enough evidence to ensure Max ends up in jail, so I have to wait for now..."

"That's true," Wendy pondered, "but how long will we have to wait? The longer this goes on, the more chances for mistakes."

"I don't know," I said with a sigh. "We'll take it one step at a time."

"I bet that despicable Max can't hold out for long. His mistress is so desperate she came to the hospital. He's probably eager to get rid of you." Wendy frowned, her pretty face wrinkled with worry. "Jen, you need to be careful. If there's any sign of trouble from Max, you tell me. Don't try to handle it alone!"

"I know. Stephen told me that the law needs concrete evidence. I'll find the proof to convict Max!" I said, remembering Wendy introduced me to Stephen. "Thank you, Wendy. Without your connections, I wouldn't have been able to get someone like Stephen."
