Chapter 45 Marriage Called Off

"Why not?" Seeing that Jennifer raised her voice, Shona raised hers as well. "At first we did decide to give you 40 thousand dollars as bride price, but we didn't say that the car had to be under Jessica's name, right? A car that's worth more than 40 thousand dollars is already under Jessica's name. What else do you want?"

"Is the car for Jessica? The car may be under Jessica's name, but it's also for the child, isn't it? Is the child in Jessica's womb going to be a member of the Walker family or the Holland family?" Jennifer wasn't backing down at all. She stood up from her chair and looked at Shona angrily.

"How can that be the same?" said Shona. "The child isn't born yet. If the child is born, then I won't have any problems putting it under the child's name. However, the child isn't born yet. What's your dowry anyway? Is the dowry the bed covers and the worthless washbowls?"
