Can't Get Rid Of Her

Chris’s POV

Adjusting myself in my chair and glancing at the table to make sure that it looked tidy, I was ready for the investors. There was a phone that was on my desk, it was those landline kinds. I took it and pressed a few numbers before putting the phone to my ear.

“Yeah, you can send them in now,” I informed my secretary.

“Alright, sir. But I hope you’re ready,” She replied before ending the call. What did she mean by that? Instead of thinking too deeply into it, I brushed it off and cleared my throat.

My job was to try my best to convince them as to why the company was going to be the best fit for them. With me cut out of the will, there was no safety net for both of my companies.

As I waited, I tried my best to ignore my nerves and the dull headache that just did not want to leave me alone. Then they walked in, the investors.

“Meghan?” I asked, a mix of shock and confusion filling my mind. “What the hell is going on?” I watched a guy walk in with her.
