A funeral

When everything was alright a few hours ago, there was a massive party at the farmhouse in Miami, only to receive a call that he was needed urgently. David didn't even know why he was called to fly down from Miami to London, but he did.

He left the party and took the private jet back, only to get the shocking news of a lifetime: the death of his older brother. Nothing felt right, he was so disturbed that he rushed to the hospital to confirm if it was a prank.

A prank by his brother to make him come back home, however, when he entered the room he was shown. David nearly collapsed. He didn't want it to be the truth, but his innocent brother was lying on a hospital bed covered from head to toe, and the sight of him not breathing hurt him.

Furthermore, he always asked him not to work so much, but he never listened, he was sick but still worked as if life depended on it. And it was his ex-wife's fault. After she ran away with another man, she immediately gave birth to his brother's boys. She sent divorce papers to his brother. He was devastated and drowned his sorrows with work.

He turned into a workaholic and worked day and night to build an empire, the Williams empire, wealthy and established, their company was the best at making technology stuff.

His brother made their last name prestigious at just the mention of his last name. People bowed and respected him, but now he was no more, his brother was no more

“My sincere condolences” David heard someone say as they patted him on that shoulder and added something about his brother being a great man who cared about everyone around him. His head was lowered as he kept his hands to his front, not daring to look up.

They were at the cemetery saying their final goodbyes to his brother. The place was packed with so many people he didn't know. Of course, his brother was well-known, very famous and not just any famous, but he liked giving, and people took advantage of him

“Sorry for your loss,” another said as they hugged him, David Williams just stood there enduring the worst torture of his entire life. The people dressed in black expensive suits and dresses were all fake, they were pretending to be sorry for him and shedding fake tears because they knew the person they took advantage of and milked of his money was no more. He was glad his brother was resting because those leeches hugging him were good for nothing

“Thank you very much,” David said for the first time when one of the company shareholders approached him and said a few kind words, he was an elderly man who was why he removed his sunglasses and looked up at him.

“How are you feeling?” another one asked him. It seemed like they wanted him to drop to the ground and roll around in his tears as if he were a baby. They were busy mocking him, and he was just letting them.

He secretly glanced around, searching for his best friend. He was busy addressing a crowd that he wouldn't have been able to handle, knowing he couldn't hold a conversation for less than two minutes before he got bored.

Of course that only happened if the person was a man, if it was a woman, then that was where his charms came in handy

“Hey champ…the ceremony is almost done…people will now start placing flowers to say goodbye” his best friend finally decided to spare him some time as he came and stood beside him. They were both wearing black suits with sunglasses, David suggested the sunglasses so that he could hide. He preferred not to talk to anyone knowing people now start trying to be so friendly with him because he was now the rich man,

“How long huh… I'm sure my brother didn't want all this…these people are just leeches I tell you” David whispered to his friend Charlie. He was not only his friend, but his brother's most trusted man. He was intelligent and everything David wasn't. His brother sometimes wished he had a little brother like Charlie, responsible and loved working

“Shh…just endure this for five minutes, Dave…five minutes is all your late brother is asking for” Charlie leaned close to David and whispered through gritted teeth, his mouth was still closed, and David understood he didn't want anyone to hear him.

David let out a low chuckle knowing Charlie was already irritated with him, and hence he cleared his throat, straightened his back and looked up as the men were moving to and fro putting beautiful flowers on his brother's grave. He felt sad and burdened.

If only he was still alive. How on earth was the company going to run on its own? Most importantly, who would look after his spoiled boys. His two nephews. Troublesome humans were not only twins in appearance, but they had the same brain.

They thought alike and made people miserable at such a young age. David was so doomed that by the time Charlie guided him away from the cemetery, he was sweating, to make matters worse before they could reach where their car was parked.

A swarm of bees in form of reporters came out of nowhere. As much as he hated being on TV, the reporters rushed his way, a lot of them with flashing cameras and microphones which they pointed at him. He was devastated,

“Sir…what do you think about the death of your brother?”

“Sir…are you going to take over the company?”

“Mr. Williams, tell us why you never get married…is it true that you are gay” David was being fired with so many questions that he felt dizzy, the sun was hot, too hot for him that he felt suffocated. He was certain the reporters were just human leeches out to seek some cheap publicity.

It was like this every time. His brother used to tolerate them and raised their TV ratings, but he was no more. They jumped to him… In the past, the leeches never paid attention to him, not like he let them, but now they knew their bank balance was about to hit rock bottom.

They were doomed, and David smirked at that. And the point about him being gay was ridiculous, he chased anything in skirts and his brother always scolded him about settling down and finding a wife. But women were just gold diggers

“No questions please…this is a touchy moment for me”David looked up, removed his sunglasses and put on the saddest face he could find. He was handsome, even with a sad face, he killed it. He could see the female reporters blushing as they flashed their cameras, taking his pictures, and they wanted.

Charlie knew his friend's game more than anyone. It was like this every time. The desired David Williams, people died to see on TV, was answering to reporters. It was a big deal and women knew that.

“Please let Mr. Williams have some rest…no questions” after some time Charlie said as several security men rushed to make way for him, David was still with a sad face as he walked to the black SUV which was already opened for him. He quickly got in the back seat, so did Charlie, and he slammed the door as they both let out deep exhales

`Three good days… I'm so freaked out…my BP levels have gone high I swear”David let out a cry as soon as the car started moving, he carelessly tugged at his tie loosening it and took off his coat. Suits and stuff weren't his things,

"Calm down…it's your brother's funeral, “Charlie said, and David glanced back at him with a death glare that drilled holes if it could. His brother died three days ago, and they were making him run around the city when he could be wooing the next woman to his bed. Charlie just shook his head and took out his phone

“So no parties for you buddy…tomorrow morning work starts…the lawyer will bring the will and read it in front of the shareholders…as the only relative to your brother…congratulations my man…you are officially a billionaire,” Charlie said in the most dramatic way possible as he scrolled through his phone, his actions, and words had David sinking deep in his seat. His head was spinning again, and he knew surviving tomorrow was out of the question. He hated working and it was imprinted on his forehead.

“My brother shouldn't have died” David muttered in frustration when Charlie's phone vibrated. immediately, Charlieglanced at the screen and let out multiple curses which had David concerned

"Damn this girl, f**k this," Charlie continued cursing as he read through the large text he received

"Your careless sister?" David said with an eye roll while busy scrolling through his phone. Charlie's expression darkened as he read through the text

"She got to be kidding me… I'm done with this girl," Charlie said and tossed his phone away. David let out a chuckle and knew Charlie's useless sister had struck again

"She's useless," David muttered mockingly earning a glare from Charlie

"No, she's my sister… it will be great if you gave her a job now that she's fired," Charlie tried to call David since he was the new boss

"Of course not…why will I risk it, go and handle your sister while I get ready for the party," David said coldly and shoved his phone in his pocket. Charlie stared at him in disbelief and let out an exhale. Soon the car came to a stop

"Fine, I'll handle her…remember the lawyer will come to the mansion to read the will," Charlie reminded his friend before stepping out of the car. David didn't even bother when the door slammed and the car started moving
