Chapter 38 - A Dark Wedding

To say that I was annoyed was an understatement. 

Lucien seemed to take great joy out of telling me how he had requested, being my only kin, to give me away. And that his Majesty was only too pleased to accept my offer. 

His incessant chatter at how happy he was to watch me marry the Prince of Darkness had my teeth on edge. I couldn’t bare his cheerfulness, knowing that there was some dark intention underneath the whole charade.

I tried hard to keep the fire that was twisting uncomfortably in my stomach from finishing the job I started not a week ago. The burn I gave him had left him with a grotesque scar with stretched from under his chin, all down the left side of his neck and disappeared under his shirt collar. I wondered how far the scar actually went. Did it cover the whole left side of his body? He slight limp would suggest that it did. The thought that I was the source of his current discomfort sent a thrill through me that I couldn’t begin to comprehend.&n
