The Missing Ring

With the soup consumed, things were quiet between Christen and Fenris. While the former sat by the fire, the latter was washing up the pot and bowls. Christen offered to do it for him, in return for the soup, but Fenris declined the help. Told her to just stay by the fire where it was warm.

It was not that he did not think she was incapable of washing. Not when Fenris heard from her of her life before meeting Damien. How she often slaved her life away serving her family, and spent her ‘married life’ watching over her new home alone, without her husband’s assistance, or that of any other servant or hired help. All the cleaning and cooking she had done was all done by her and her alone. Even if Christen did not think so, Fenris could see that she would make an excellent housewife. In fact, she was one. Her husband, on the other hand, clearly did not see how great she was as a person. Her family were even more so, for them to treat her as one would a slave in their world. Not even Alphas
