22: She was here

WAYLEN 

It was only a matter of minutes until I wore the carpet thin with my pacing. I was losing control.

“When last did you see her?” Rey asked. 

Today was Sunday, twelve days since she promised to return to work. She lied to me. The full moon would be out tonight, and Goddess help me because chains might not be enough to keep Len. He needed Beth.

 

“Last week Tuesday.” 

That chance encounter at the restaurant didn’t count. Besides, we never spoke. I was holding onto her promise. She told me she would be at work the next day but didn’t show up. All my texts have gone unanswered. The camera I left in her house showed she had visited only once and fled after receiving my package. 

If she was with that Hank guy, I would—

“Maybe you should try a different tactic.” 

“No.” I shook my head. I stopped pacing and dropped to a chair behind

He just needs to tell her. All of this back and forth is ridiculous. At least she’d know how he feels and why he says the things he says.
