I was still here when Beth got out of the bathroom. We both knew I wouldn’t be gone. She stood in front of her closet with only a white towel wrapped around her chest. Her hair was up in a knot, and the only coherent thought in my head was: let it down. I watched the water roll down the nape of her neck and disappear into the towel. She was too far. 

“Beth.”

“What do you want this time?” she asked. She wasn’t facing me, but her anger was unmistakable.

I couldn’t stand from the bed, so I sat at the edge. Beth turned. Her annoyance seemed to have grown within the few minutes she was in the bathroom. 

“What if I said I came for a kiss?” 

She pointed at the tent in my shorts. “With that erection?” 

“Fine. Sex. I want to fuck.”
