The silence between us stretched out for a minute, the only sound the steady beep of the machines monitoring my vital signs. Finally, Mrs. Deli spoke up, her voice low and mysterious.

"The Samson you currently know could never be half the man your father was."

I felt a surge of frustration. What did she mean by that? Was she avoiding my question on purpose? I had asked her if Samson was my biological father, and instead of giving me a straight answer, she was giving me some kind of cryptic message.

"What do you mean?" I pressed, trying to keep my voice even. "Was Samson my father or not?"

But Mrs. Deli just shook her head, her expression enigmatic. "I've said all I can, Daniel. Please, just leave it alone."

I was about to interrogate her further when the doctor entered the room, a cheerful smile on his face. "Ah, Mrs. Deli, I see you're visiting our patient. That's great to see!"
