They moved the meeting back inside the castle, with everyone on board, much to Queen Hyacinth’s annoyance. The power that she thought she still had over everyone had proven to have waned, and a part of her blamed her son for that.

She hated how independent he seemed without her, and more so because of the girl next to him. She recognized the power surging through Samantha, and it irked her to no end that fate decided to pair her son up with someone like that.

Even if Hale wasn’t her biological son.

She loved him as her own, having raised him from when he was just days old. No one understood the sacrifices she’d made for him, having chosen to save him when his own father wanted him killed.

She knew what people thought about her, but she still loved her son. She would do anything for Hale, and she’d proven it all those years ago when she decided to raise him as her own. He would probably never know the truth about what happened all those years ago, and she was ok with that.
