"I'm glad to hear you're doing well in school again, Archer." Mom welcomed me with a proud smile on her lips. She received a phone call early this morning from our homeroom teacher, who informed her that my grades were improving and were much higher than before. I simply smiled at her and went back to eating our breakfast.

"Well, I think you should probably rejoin the basketball team as well; your coach asked me again a few weeks ago if you are still willing—"

"I'm not thinking about going back, Dad." I quickly avoided his question while chewing the food in my mouth. I didn't bother looking at his face because I was already aware that he had a scowl on his face.

"Why not if it will benefit your studies? I believe you should—"
