Back at home, Calan sat in the kitchen island with Mildred who was telling him about what meal she thought would make him get better quickly. He listened attentively as though his life depended on it, his life probably depended on it in a way though.

"I'm sure that will help, and it'll help you sleep better as well". She told him.

He nodded.

"I do sleep well lately". He told her. He was almost proud to say it. "Very well indeed".

She smiled warmly.

"I noticed". She said. "Your eyes arent so dull anymore".

He arched a brow slightly.

"My eyes were never dull, Mildred". He said to her.

She smiled.

"I've known you for a long time, since you were a boy even". She said to him. "And i know your eyes have been dull".

He let out a resigned breath before leaning back into his seat.

"But they're better now though, and I'm glad". She said.

He nodded.

"It's wierd, but i sleep better with Alexa around". He told her, she was the closest thing he had to a maternal figure in his life so
