It was now the second period, and I shared this class with Kai. We were discussing Hayden, who had to leave earlier because his ankle monitor started flashing red.

"So wait, he wasn't supposed to be here?" I asked Kai, furrowing my eyebrows. He nodded in response.

"He's not supposed to leave home, but he managed to mess up his ankle monitor," Kai chuckled, and I joined in.

"Well, I guess his freedom didn't last long," I remarked, watching as the teacher walked into our classroom.

I made sure Hayden went home before the police showed up here. With a blank look, he left the building, but I wasn't entirely convinced he actually went home. Feeling exhausted, both Kai and I rested our heads on the desk and dozed off. Lunchtime arrived quickly, and my stomach growled, but I decided to delay eating. I had been losing weight slowly but surely, and I wasn't sure how to feel about it. It was great in one way, but it also highlighted my vulnerability. I allowed others' words to get to me,
