“Just what? I deserve to be treated gently. Because of what happened? Do you think it will be easier for me to hear those exact words if you act nice to me? Don’t worry Nic, everything’s fine. I’m okay, so stop worrying about me”, Dianne exclaimed, trying to sound convincing.

“It’s not about being alright or not. It’s about the fact that you never told anyone about your secret.” Nicolas spoke in a low tone, clearly frustrated with Dianne.

“What am I supposed to tell people? Everyone who knows about us would just try to use it against me. Besides, if the whole world knew how much you love me...” Dianne trailed off as she thought of the possibility.

Nicolas chuckled humorlessly. “You know, most people who meet us only see two sides of a coin, either good or bad. For some, we’re a great team. For others... well… we’re an obstacle between them and love, the ultimate source of evil.” He looked at Dianne with an amused twinkle in his eyes, as if to say, "Well?"
