The fourth town
LeiyaAll through the night, I was tossing and turning, unable to successfully sleep. My mind wandered to every possible scenario that my sister and her husband could be in at the moment. I couldn't think of any safe or happy scenario. They were all bad ones. My mind wasn't settled. There was a sickening feeling at the bottom of my stomach. The fifth townLeiyaBy sunrise, my men and I resumed our journey to the next town. There was awkwardness that hung in the air between Kamael and I. When I mentioned that my heart belonged to someone else the night before, he went pale like he had seen a ghost. He said nothing else after that, biding me goodnight before leaving. By the morrow, he spoke to me only when it was necessary and even then, he refused to look me in the eyes. I felt terrible throughout the first day of our journey. My eyes would occasionally wander to him on his horse, hoping that he would look at me with a smile. His charming, breathtaking smile, but he never did. The first loud click of both metallic swords was the go ahead everybody else had. In the blink of an eye, swords and more swords were being slammed against each other. I was still in the middle of the three of them, but they were slowly losing balance. Ten against three was exactly what it was, a nightmare. Before they could recover from avoiding one hit, another was launched at them. I was completely defenseless. All my life, my father trained me in the dangerous skill of sword fighting.
