Damon had not returned from the meeting room. Bella did not know why, but she did not want to return to the meeting room to check up on them. It was possible that they had gotten the whiff of her scent while she had been there but avoided it thinking it was no big deal considering she was living here. But if she went back downstairs, and they came out of the room, her scent is going to be stronger and will alert them that she had heard their discussion. And then Damon will get angry, and then he will turn overly cautious and then the whole plan with Kayla will turn to a flop.

As the first rays of sun hit the curtains, Bella blinked hard and turned towards the window on the bed. She had healed by now and there was no pain left. The scar will take a while to disappear but it was fine with her as long as she was still breathing fine without having to take a handful of medicines.
