A Bad Dream? II

"Milady, a cup of tea in the morning!" I hear birdsong in the vicinity of where I have been. A day has passed since my return to this household, but neither the duke nor the duchess have greeted me or inquired about what transpired.

For them, it seems as if my entire existence has been a joke as if they are forcing me to do things on the surface while keeping me as a doll until the real one is healed and returns to reclaim the title I once held.

I cannot allow that to occur in this lifetime, not after being given a second chance. I narrow my eyes as I observe Kaylla, who appears to be enjoying the view as she smiles. I could only sigh as I smiled and looked back.

I cannot have a genuine smile at me this morning, but I can assure her that I intend to smile at her as a friend and not as a household servant.
