Forty-Eight

Sally's POV

A week has passed and I didn't expect it to pass so quickly. Today will be a long and miserable day. How can I predict that? Oh, I don't have to predict anything, I just know. And the sky looked darker than before, even though it was raining outside. Sigh. I don't know if I can make it through the day.

"Hey," Athena cautiously approached me. "I know you're not celebrating your birthday, but do you want to go out, get your mind off everything?"

I know she means well and has only the best for me, but I want to spend today alone.

"Thanks, but no," I remember last year, Athena did the same thing for me, taking me around town, but I was too miserable to enjoy the day. So I don't want the girl to feel more terrible than she already is.

"I'll finish this and go home."

Athena nodded. "Text me, okay? Or call." She said and walked towards the restaurant.

One of the things I love about Athena is that she knows when to step back and let me have some alone time, especially on days like
