One hundred and one

Sally's POV

"You know my parents?" I spoke softly as I seemed to be caught off guard.

Both Ryan's parents nodded with gentle but sad smiles on their faces. "They are the kindest people we have ever met and known. Your grandparents are no exception, they may be a stubborn couple, but they are very thoughtful and generous. Speaking of which, How are your grandparents? I've seen your grandmother around, she looks very well."

I swallowed the lump in my throat before answering. "My grandfather passed away 3 years ago." Suddenly, the room became silent.

Ryan's parents looked genuinely surprised by the news, as did Ryan. "We're so sorry. I know this is long overdue, but you have our deepest condolences." Ryan's mother said.

I could only nod weakly with pursed lips, I couldn't say it was okay because it wasn't. So it's best if I keep my mouth shut.

Sensing the awkward atmosphere in the room, Ryan quickly broke it welcomed us, and began our little journey. We embarked on the trip on foot.
