Sally's POV

Cautiously, he glanced around the place for an eavesdropper. "You need to go back to your parents' deaths. They didn't die in a car accident and the car didn't explode in the flames."

He glanced around the place before speaking again. “I don't trust anyone here except your grandmother and you.”

He stopped. "Sally, I'm sorry for the things I did in the past, but it was all to make you stronger. It made you the person you are now. You will also find answers that you're looking for, but not here."

The last word he said to me was the most confusing of all the things he said. "Return to your nest. The refuge lies in the ashes of the Ravens. The darkest Raven of them all will be your guide out of these thorn bushes."

My grandfather stopped for a moment. "He never intended to let you go, Sally. He loved you, he was just taking his time."
