The Next Best Thing

Diana did not look impressed at my lack of reaction to her teasing words. Although, I did realize that if I hadn't called her out on her act, we would probably be doing it right now. Any fool who couldn't tell the two sisters apart would have surely fallen into her trap.

"You know, I really hate you," she confessed before smiling sweetly at me.

"Then get off of me already," I said, with the warning edge in my voice.

"Not yet. We need to talk," she said as she pressed her hands on top of my shoulders as if they would help keep me in place.

I had no idea why she needed to be sitting on top of me for us to have a decent conversation. Diana's mind seemed to be racing as her eyes started to dart to the side, and I couldn't help but wonder what she was trying so desperately hard to figure out.

"This is going to sound quite crazy. I hate you, but for some reason, I feel like I can trust you now. Maybe it's because you can tell that I'm not Dahlia," she said before she hesitated.

I was thinking the same thing! Stop dragging the story out and get to the point. It’s definitely getting boring. I have completely 4 other short books trying to wait for the final chapter.
