Chapter IV

Drew was gazing at the contract she was about to sign in front of her father, the university president, Dean Sanchez, and the representatives from the board of regents with the production team of the series, EngiNeERD.

"We were happy that Mr. Cortez finally was able to choose someone from the university to fill in a new character."

The president mused.

"I'm honored to have read the personal email he sent me last night that he wanted my daughter to play that role."

Drew's father added, with an exciting remark on his face.

"He told me he met your daughter in the library and said the moment he saw her, he knew she is the one he was looking for. It's so important to me giving Jonathan the chance to choose his standard of Sunny."

The director said with excitement.

"Now we only have Ms. Barcenilla to conform to our agreement." he added.

Pia Drew seemed to have swallowed sticky saliva and found nothing to respond. She was sweating excessively, losing her grace in the pressure she is in - and of course, in her usual emtotionless face.

"But....why me?"

The President collected his thoughts and pressed his daughter's hands as a reassurance.

"It’s only a 6-month contract, Pia. You only have to help the team to fill in that role. It could be hard for them to find an actress for the role knowing all of them were occupied with other undertakings plus they have to pay the regular talent fee even if it's for 6 months only."

"but why me?"

She raised her voice with a little tensed tone.

"This could be a great time to make your school famous, my dear plus Mr. Cortez proposed something so beneficial for the whole school."

Pia Drew was still hesitant but something rings a bell when she heard the word proposed.

"What did he propose?"

The dean cleared his throat and acted to save the last explanation for the president.

"Well, you Know Pia, Mr. Cortez actually offered to donate money for the engineering fair on October. Signing this contract is a win-win for both you and Andrew."

Win-win what?

Pia Drew asked sarcastically inside her head.

"You are considered one of the exchange students we'll be sending to New Zealand next year, so I guess you can do this task for the whole school community just this once.”

Drew's eyes glimmered upon hearing the exchange program except for the fact that she must first sign the 6-month acting contract.

At the end of the day, Drew finally signed. Although the feeling of defeat was boiling inside her gigantic pride jug, she reminded herself of the NZ exchange student program. It assured for a little while.

Pia Drew remembered what happened in the library and the echoing word of P-O-W-E-R-F-U-L filled her life starting that moment. She sighed, slamming her face on both of her palms.
