AUTHOR'S POV

Sylvia ran towards the border. She knew that they might not have discovered her escape. So she ran all the way. Avoiding the patrol guards, she bundled towards the next pack. With a panting and beating heart, she rested behind a date palm tree.

She held her breath at the incoming footsteps of the guards.A sneeze racked through her body, and she had no choice but to let it out.

" I thought I heard a sound?" A guard said, and she held in her breath harder this time. They walked towards the direction of the sneezing person.

The guards smelt her and they stopped walking. " Go that way" The head guard mouthed to the other guard to pretend to retreat. While the other guards cocked their guns.

Sylvia heard the retreating footsteps and thought that they were going back. She peeped, there was no one In the clearing. Then, stepped a foot forward to crunch the leaves. There was still no sound.

Immediately she stepped forward, she felt a metal placed on her neck. She froze.
