Chapter seventy one

Selena

I came to the office late today, my mind preoccupied with thoughts of Angel. It was unusual for him not to show up for something important. We had a meeting scheduled, but he was nowhere to be found. A part of me was relieved, as I didn't particularly enjoy spending time with him after our recent encounter. But despite my efforts to move on, my thoughts kept drifting back to him.

Unable to resist the nagging curiosity, I made my way to Angel's office. His personal assistant, Lisa, was at her desk, typing away on her computer. I approached her with a polite smile.

"Hey, Lisa. Have you seen Angel today? We had a meeting scheduled, but he never showed up," I inquired, trying to sound casual.

Lisa glanced up, surprise evident in her eyes. "Oh, Selena! No, Angel isn't here today. He called earlier to let us know his daughter, Heaven, is sick."

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Heaven. Concern washed over me, momentarily pushing aside any lingering animosity towards Angel. "H
