Chapter seventy three

Selena

In the days that followed, I focused on my recovery, eager to regain my strength and be there for Heaven in every way possible. Selena and I had agreed to set aside the revelation about the forged divorce papers, choosing instead to prioritize our daughter's well-being and the delicate bond we were beginning to rebuild.

Though unspoken, the tension lingered between us, an undercurrent of unfinished conversations and unresolved emotions. Yet, as we shared the burden of waiting for a suitable heart donor for Heaven, a shared purpose emerged, binding us together in a different way.

Heaven had regained consciousness, her youthful spirit shining through despite the physical fragility that enveloped her. It was a bittersweet sight to witness her excitement as I introduced her to Selena as her mother once again, I couldn’t believe she had forgotten Selena over the years. The spark of recognition ignited in Heaven's eyes, and a smile spread across her face.
