A Mate in The Woods

Layla's POV.

One week later.

I sneaked carefully, looking around. I didn't want to be caught while leaving. It was better for them to find out later that I'm gone. I knew they wouldn't miss me,but it was better to leave than to get caught while leaving.

The only one who knew that I was leaving was the healer, she spent her whole weak healing me from the wounds I received while Logan whipped me, I knew she won't tell anyone, and that was preferable to me, she was the only one in the pack who didn't discriminate me or try hurting me like the rest did, she took care of me wholeheartedly, she got scorned for it and I knew she would've been beaten if they didn't need her services as the pack healer.

I looked around once more, slipping out of the gate, I was sure they weren't up for sometime, and it put me at an advantage, I didn't know how I'll fare once I was out there, I had a weak wolf, who only shifted twice,I was known as a curse and a taboo during the time I shifted, I was a white wolf and to them, it was something unspeakable.

I hoped I had the energy to run, and I hoped I didn't run into anyone.

I gasped when I heard a familiar voice, my body shook with the tremors of every bad memory he gave me, I couldn't believe he was awake, though it felt like he wasn't asleep and just came back to the pack.

He paused when he saw me and the little bag I held, he threw his head up laughing, "good riddance, but don't let me even see your shadow in the next one minute." He spat.

I stilled, he knew I wasn't fast, I didn't know how to run fast, neither did my wolf, sometimes I felt like I was really cursed.

"You're not cursed." My wolf said and I sighed.

"Then why am I like this?" I asked and it became silent.

I didn't want to blame my wolf for anything, yet I felt like everyone in my pack, especially the mate who rejected me and my father were right afterall, I was cursed.

"Your time is up." He said with a snarl and I took off running, praying to the goddess to give me the superspeed, super strength that the other werewolves had.

I kept on running when I heard his laughter, he was leering at me.

"Run as fast as you can, it's not like you're fast anyways, I'll see you soon." Logan said and my heart beat faster, I still remember when I tried running, I was always caught by him, I hoped it didn't happen this time.

I kept on running, paying no head to his mockery, I held my little bag tightly as I ran, I realized how fast I was when I kept running, it felt like I was going faster, I couldn't hear him anymore.

I was surprised at my speed, and I quickly thanked the moon goddess for giving me the energy.

"Why don't you try shifting." My wolf encouraged me and I wondered if I would be faster if I shifted.

I let my wolf take over me and I shifted, I could feel myself on all fours, and I felt an immense rush of power, like I was injected an antidote that made me feel that rush of power.

I ran immediately, smiling as the cool air hit me, the smell of freshness from the trees, letting the adrenaline rush through my veins.

I felt so free, and it felt good. I never felt this way, it seemed as if the moon goddess was being nice to me for suffering for a while.

"Ethan." My wolf said and I frowned wondering who Ethan was.

"Who is Ethan?" I asked.

"He's here." My wolf said and I frowned again.

I shifted back to my human form, and I smiled loving the feel I had right now.

"Who is here?" I wondered why my wolf was speaking in parables to me.

I stilled when I suddenly smelt it, I frowned at the smell, wondering why I could smell something so delicious. The only explanation was me having a mate, but I knew I didn't have one as I was rejected last week.

I shook my head with a sigh, walking ahead. I felt terrified when I saw the large walls,it seemed like a very big pack, but it looked royal as well. I decided to walk past quickly,I didn't want to get into any trouble.

"He's close, he's close." My wolf jumped and I looked around.

His smell hit me again and I was wowed by it. He smelled so intoxicating and I didn't even see him yet.I wondered how I would behave if I saw him.

I heard a branch snap and I turned to the direction, that's where I met the most stunning pair of eyes I've ever seen, blue eyes were overrated, he had grey eyes, that was glowing, his eyes settled on me and he heaved a sigh of relief.

"Mate." He said and I stared at him in disbelief wondering how that was possible. I knew Werewolves had many mates, yet I didn't know how real it was till today. I dreaded how he'd react if he knew that I was cursed, I was sure he would reject me.

"Who are you?" I asked, stepping back, he cocked his head, staring at me from head to toe.

He smirked and I stepped back again, his eyes narrowed, it terrified me, his muscles showed from the clothes he wore, he was attractive and terrifying as well.

"Let's go." He said.

"To where?" I asked.

"To my pack, you're my mate." He said and my heart fluttered happily. He didn't reject me, though I was expecting rejection.

"I'm weak, and my wolf is white." I said and chuckled.

"Let's go, it's getting late." He said with a smile. I saw a dimple at the left side of his cheek, and  admired it.

He shook his head while taking my hands, I smiled shyly when I realized he caught me staring at him.
