It suddenly occurs to me why he wouldn't be working from his office and why he would want to be present to see me wake up as he approaches the bedroom door.

"I refuse to alter," I exclaim, my voice still heavy from sleep—or is it raspy from yelling? "I will never change, no matter how many times you bite me. Everything else is under your control, but this is out of your hands.

I want something more than I want to die, therefore I don't tell him to murder me. My father was murdered. It doesn't matter if they haven't acknowledged it—it could still be real. I feel as though someone has grabbed my hand and carried me directly to his body. He is gone. I am fully aware of this fact.

I refuse to leave this earth until they make amends. The two of them.

I have to force myself to swallow something sickening and bitter that is swirling around in my stomach to prevent it from pushing its way up my throat.
