CHAPTER 39: SERPENTINE

HAZEL'S POV

Salim led us inside. The air was hot and humid, but it wasn't what I was expecting. My eyes roamed around the province, snake couples were strolling holding hands and snake children were playing in the grassland to our left. They looked almost human from their heads to their waists, but had a serpent's tail from their waists down - Like centaurs only instead of half-man half-horse, they were half-man half-snake.

It was a gorgeous town with human-appropriate buildings. There was a marketplace just like the ones you'd find in the human world. Fresh tomatoes and carrots were laid out beautifully with their arrays of colour lined out on stalls. Snake-women conversing and smiling friendly with each other.

We stopped at a garage, and a burly snake-man wearing a blue cap with grease stains came out to greet us. "Salim, who are your friends?" He asked, wiping his hand on a red rag.

"This is Alpha Zander and his friends," Salim replied.
