Zander inhaled, welcoming the crisp freshness of the untainted atmosphere. No scent of death, nor decay, nothing repugnant lingered in the surrounding air. The forest was a pretty contrast of oak-brown and it seemed so primitive. They were awed by the size and majesty of the trees. Their knotted arms rose ever upwards, as far as the head could lift. They were hoary fortresses and stood proudly. The orchestra of birdsong could be heard from miles away. It was spirit-refreshing to smell the musky mix of the forest’s perfume. “The air is so clean here," James declared. And Declan couldn't remember a time when he had enjoyed a cleaner supply of oxygen. They walked through the umber-brown, ancient forest. It was like a leafy paradise, reeking of age. Its woody incense was from centuries of snapping branches crashing to the forest’s floor and twisting silently. Even the clouds that were now in view with the rising sun seemed like it was plucked out from a painting of a perfect picnic day. The lacy white-edged clouds were like puffs of white magic as they rolled in over acres of blue sky.It didn't take our heroes long to arrive at the bottom of the summit. The green carpeted forest began to fade as the ground became dry and chalky. Their eyes noticed the mountain. It seemed like any other mountain, with sides that were covered with old-growth forests and the farmland below was fertile, but lay against the bright blue sky was a craggy volcano that seemed like it had been simmering for ages. The white wisps rose from the top like the fumes from a burning chimney that was giving away the location of a lonesome cottage hidden away deep in the woods. “Of course, the dragons live up there," Hazel spoke with sarcasm. The distinct change in atmosphere was immediately apparent. The cave’s hot, dry climate was an abrupt contradiction to the fresh, cool air our heroes left behind outside. Hazel wrinkled her nose against the musty smell permeating the air of this place. They followed behind Layla and ventured deeper into the rock-strewn cavern. Zander was worried about how Hazel would react when she sees what was taking place inside. He didn't have the time to tell the others what he and James saw when they entered the cave earlier. Hazel's mind-link barrier was too weak, so all telepathic communications with her were weakened. Suddenly, a flock of winged-creatures swept across the apex of the cave, producing screeching shrieks that rang through the whole cavern. Everyone except Layla and Declan, who still had an unconscious Seraphina in his arms, knelt with their hands covering their heads. They kept absolutely still until the raging horde of bats finally subsided, and everything was unruffled again.

Hello everyone, I'm just checking in with you guys to let you all know what's up. I am a very busy person and lately, I've been busier. I am an Intern (Gynecologist) and my schedule just changed a few weeks ago. I am hardly home as I spend most of my nights and early hours of the day at the hospital and the one day I get off, I try to write but I keep falling asleep at my computer. My brain has been tired and my body has been on overdrive. I wish I could stay home and write all day but people are depending on me and what I do. But don't fret, I am due for my two weeks' leave in April, so I will be working on completing this book as there are only 14 chapters left. I plan on giving you guys more stories. I realized I have so many good stories saved on my hard drive that I think are ready to be shared with the world. Thank you all for your continuous support. ❤️FIONA.
