Chapter 24: Overbearing Madame Agnes

Butler Mark interrupted before Caleb could respond.

"Our apologies, Ms. Margaret," he said, "Madame Agnes went with Celestine. We will send him back later in the day."

Caleb's expression grew tight, and Margaret furrowed her brow, wondering about the nature of Celestine's relationship with Madame Agnes. She turned to Butler Mark and asked, "Sir Mark, I would like to know if my son willingly went with her."

Butler Mark smiled and misspoke, saying, "The young master willingly went with Madame Agnes."

Margaret's brow furrowed further. "The young master?" she repeated. "Why are you referring to my son Celestine as your young master?"

Butler Mark remained composed. "It was a mistake," he said. "We must be on our way to settle some issues."

Margaret watched as Butler Mark and his entourage left, feeling uneasy about the situation.
