CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Vanessa arrived home later that evening after dropping by at the hospital with her father to see her mother.

She felt so happy for the first time in a long time, and so she reached for a wine from the wine cabinet and a glass

The good news called for a celebration and she was going to celebrate in the little way that she could.

She began to uncork the wine, taking her time to look for the corkscrew and gave up after searching to no avail.

She popped it open forcefully, not realizing it was aimed at her face, and so the cork was shot at her eye.

“Son of a bitch!” she cursed out, the pain resonating in her eye, dropping the bottle which broke on impact with the floor.

She searched frantically through the refrigerator for a pack of peas or corn, anything cold enough.

She found a meat pack, and placed it anyway, sulking at the pain she was currently in. She heard the doors to the house fling open and then footsteps, followed by the doors being shut with a loud bang, which resonated thro
